Ok so this isnt a picture of me with a band but this is one of my favorite photos ever Not just because of the shot but because of the circumstances surrounding it In 1996 (or maybe 97) it was announced that the original line up of Black Sabbath were going to be hitting the road again kicking the whole thing off in Phoenix Arizona These two guys I used to hang around with had a grandmother in Phoenix so we decided to fly out there stay with her for free and go to the show Phoenix is hot hot and uncomfortable and theres very little to do n nThe three of us were staying with a grandmother so it wasnt like we could do much at her house either At first we got a kick out of driving to the Mall being a city boy Malls are always fun to go to You walk around in the climate control and watch all the Happy Consumers putter around in a capitalistic frenzy That quickly got boring so we headed up to the big Meteor Crater to get a really good view of what a huge hole in the ground looks like n nAt the crater the three of us proved how big of dorks we were by pretending to be Jeff Bridges in Starman before retiring back to their Grandmothers house for dinner The next night was the show so we piled into the car and headed out This was a big time event because it wasnt just Sabbath but also Pantera Megadeth and a couple of other bands whose names I can't remember The facility itself was huge and we got rushed in the back because a friend of ours knew the bouncers there The first big surprise of the night was that the bouncers had also gotten in a large batch of their extremely hot stripper friends You have to love bouncers and security guys simply on the fact that they always know strippers and strippers who are off duty are pretty excited to just not be half naked These girls were not only very friendly but also very inebriated so they were all about being overly affectionate n nDont get me wrong nobody was banging in the bathroom but it was still a good time and these girls were hot We sat through Pantera which was difficult due to the fact that Phil wouldnt stop giving speeches for more than half of the set The stage was kind of far away but I couldve sworn I saw Dimebag roll his eyes After Pantera Megadeth took the stage and that was cool because Dave and the band did what seemed like a greatest hits list Megadeth ended and the stage started getting set for Sabbath n nSuddenly across the way I saw this bright tattoo that looked oddly familiar I started moving towards it noticing that it was a complete back piece and that the center of it was a man with his fist raised above his head and what looked like a sword As I got closer to the tattoo I couldnt believe my eyes at what was taking shape Somebody some actual human being decided to get the entire cover of Manowars album Kings Of Metal on their back It was incredible it was the entire cover and such detail that whoever had it done mustve been at it for months This was dedication this was somebody who worshiped Manowar and I just couldnt believe this was actually happening n nWhat happened next was a complete surprise I figured I had to talk tot he guy who had this tattoo if only to ask him why Dont get me wrong I wasnt there to laugh I love Manowar but that was usually met with ridicule Here was a guy who obviously loved Manowar to and way way more than I did When I tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around I was taken aback I figured it would be some pasty white metalhead kid but instead is was an older Mexican guy with short hair I told him I thought his tattoo as amazing and he said Thank you thank you very much Now it wasnt his response that surprised me but the fact that he sounded exactly like Elvis Presley I was standing in front of a man with a giant Manowar tattoo who was talking to me like Elvis Presley I began to think I was having an acid flashback I got my bearings back and asked him if I can take a picture of the back piece He smiled and said Of course man were all brothers of metal n nSo I snapped the photo thanked him and went back to strippers and Sabbath The rest of the night was awesome Sabbath kicked much ass and I even got most of the direct attention from one of the pretty blond strippers After the show I tossed the disposable camera into my bag and forgot about it Several months later I re-discovered it and got the photos developed when I saw this photo I freaked because Id forgotten all about the tattoo So thats my Manowar tattoo story I still cant believe it really happened

I've been quite obsessed with ChuuninGenin Ai lately XD And her team From right to left it's: Itsuki Shiki and Airena XD Itsuki and Ai were 'puppy lovers' at the time not yet dating He may look shy but he was actually very sharp witted and quick on his feet Shiki was a lady's man always hitting on girls and kissing their cheek Ai was basically the same she never was truly 'childish' XD While I wait for Ai to have her baby I'll be editing a lot more of Team Phoenix Stay tuned

-Vengeance slayers side nA group of humans were sitting outside of their city acting as the night watch for that side of the city nThere were 5 2 priest a gunner a swordsman along with a blades man nAs an approaching zombie become lighter by their lantern the gunner swiftly lifted his gun aimed for a brief moment and shot it in the head and then the zombie fell on top of the pile of dead bodies Suddenly the swordsmen said what was that I just hurt a rustling noise as the gunner replied just by raising his gun in the direction of the noise then just as a yellow colored zombie and steps out of the shadow wielding guns one in each hand as he raises then the gunner shoots him in the head It doesnt affect him as the zombie shoots killing both the priests getting ready to shoot again just as a shadowy figure appears and kills him in one fowl swipeand the figure disappeared again the humans shocked in disarray said to each other what was that as suddenly as the figured disappeared he reappeared Suddenly sinking his teeth into the neck of the gunner and disappearing in a smoke As they rush over to the gunner they realize that hes not breathing as they remaining two get ready for a battle a hand suddenly came from the ground and grabs the blades man foot As he screams in terror his leg is ripped clean off and then a wolf appears where the hand was and begins to eat the hurt gunner as his blood curling scream poisons the air and when he stopped breathing the wolf was covered in smoke and a vampire appeared inching closer to the scared swords men swinging his blade blindly backing into the woods as a giant ogre appears and smashes him to bits with his club Scared the vampire swiftly turns into a bat and flees away but foolishly over the slayers city as a experienced gunner was awaken by the screams and shoot a silver gilded bullet up in the ear piercing the vampire sending him to the ground dead The next day the humans meet in the church announcing the 5 dead nAnd now says they are recruiting again raising their numbers 10 fold Good news for them but yet bad news for the vampires As they recruit a small army and launches an attack on castle limbo (aka vampire stronghold) unsuspected the vampires knew it was coming and were waiting outside of the castle hidden tacitly as soon as the slayer force reached a certain point they were doomed as soon as the step near the dungeon of caston dozens apon dozens of high ranked vampires appeared from the ground and suddenly lunched these deadly needles make of blood killing most of he slayers front force then they shot venom shots at the vampires killing very few the vampires retaliated and sent their front lines and they transformed into these huge wolfs standing on two legs manacling as they ripped through the slayer force It was a bloody day for the slayers and a victory for the vampires As the slayers retreated losing most of their force more vampires appeared and started to lunch a counter attack on their city of parona nAs the slayers retreated they were being picked off and bitten by the vampires being turned almost instantly as they made it into their safe city they prepared for the on coming attack priests as the healers for support and the swords men out side of city along with the blades men gunners positioned snipers mounted on sand bags pointing through the gate as they readied all was quiet but still the humans didnt let their guard down nYet for a few minutes all that came out of the shadows were zombies as they appeared they were picked off by the snipers but yet no vampires appeared as suddenly a molten ball of what seemed to be blood fell from the sky crashing ontop of most of the blades men killing them instantly and wounding many others of the swords men as suddenly as the comet appeared suddenly the remaining swords men paralyzed floated up off the ground a stream of blood flowing from their necks into the front lines of the vampire forces parched mouths as the snipers paralyzed with fear starts to shot rapidly hopping they are hitting but yet missing every shot as the vampire inch closer and closer shooting these acid like balls from there hands at the gunners killing them on impact but now as the gunners are dieing out of a near by building a priest female with shining armor and a silver cross in hand suddenly casts a healing spell of such magnitude all the slayers dead bodies suddenly come back to life with their original souls in their bodys arise the battle stops for a split second as both forces marvel at her magic abilities as then the slayers then charge at the vampires rushing their quick step to avoid their blasts then suddenly slashing at the vampires hitting then with all their might the battle was intense but since the the healer also fought the vampires lost their whole army since they refused to surrender or retreat as the last one was struck down by the healer a giant blood needle came from the ground and impaled her as the gunner killed the vampire who did that as she laid dead the vampires weeped until a shine of light and she grew wings and floated to her feet the wings disappearing obviously the slayers think they have it in the bag nAs they started to launched a reverse counter attack back on castle limbo whipping out what they thought to be the last of the vampires n nEND nTo be continued n n nVengence vampires side nA group of two vampires were stalking in the woods now seeing a group of slayers out side their gates The chuckled to them selfs and turned invisible and one stepped on a twig snapping it apparently alerting the slayers they hid and waited for the slayers to calm down when they did a yellow zombie with guns come out and shot two of the slayers killing them and one of the vampires re appeared killed the beast and disappeared again nAs the shocked gun man said hnsm ayum vens nTalking in a different language than the vampires but they carried blood bibles of translation hearing they say what ever that was saved us then all of a sudden the vampire quick steps to the gunner sinking his teeth into the gunner and disappears in a puff of smoke the unaware slayer doesnt see that he burrowed in the ground as he comes closer he rips off his foot then swiftly stabs him self with a wolf claw now turning into a wolf now eating his body to refuel his energy as the last frightened slayer backing up into the woods an ogre appears and smashes his head into a bloody pulp with his club along with the vampire the last vampire scared now turns into a bat and flees away but foolishly over the slayer city and gets shoot down by a silver bullet as news of this reaches their castle limbo they start preparing defenses obviously expecting an attack they were right as soon as the slayers were in sight they shoot blood needles from their hands along with poisonous acid killing most instantly as now they change as their claws now covered in blood the slayers now in defensive positions the vampires are now slowly picking them off as their lines seem invinsible as the highest rank vampire congores a metor made of blood and smashes it ontop of the slayers killing most as then a healer with gleaming armor come out and with one fowl swipe of her silver cross kills him and them a giant gleaming ball flls over the dead slayers as the slowly rise to their feet their wounds healed both sides stopping for a second staring with awe now she lifts her cross again now the slayers wepons glowing red along with their armor incressing their blood lust as they lunch at the vampire killing most of them fast but they refused to give up and were killed off now the slayers launch a counter attack after ours killing most of the vampire kind nThey think they have won Well see about that n n nEND nTo be continued

Infineon Raceway April 11 2008nnIts quiet tonight under this hill in Sonoma A few lights gleam and the faint tink-tink-tink of a hammer sounds from some hidden pit area where work continues as it always does on a race car Bright stars look down on a few early arrivals and the air is redolent of hay and the sea All through the night the transporters pull in towing their brightly colored cars Theyve come from Oregon Utah Nevada and all parts of California to become a part of this temporary community to see old friends to make new ones to race Dawn reveals a small village sprung up over night There are streets traffic pedestrians wives sweethearts kids and dogs Cars of all descriptions from daily drivers to factory sponsored racecars have become the focus of attention as they are prepared to go on track An air of festivity prevails over this day at the races but an undercurrent of the potential for violence and wreckage is present as well as the tow truck rumbles slowly around the perimeter like a bright red velociraptor tail high looking for preynnOne of the best things about a NASA event is that there is something for everyone You can bring your daily driver and run a High Performance Driving Event Anything will do as long as its roadworthy and safe Looking out my door once I saw a Ford GT40 a GMC pickup a Toyota Camry a Porsche GT3 and a Mini Cooper S all lined up to go out in HPDE 1 As your experience and driving skills improve you can bring your modded up street machine change to race wheels and tires and run with the faster HPDE groups 2 3 and 4 Some folks have been happily doing this for years Since these are non-competitive instructional driving events with instructors on board your insurance should cover any mishaps (NOTE: check with your own provider to be sure) In addition there are many classes of racing to watch featuring exciting door-to-door competition Add to that a free barbeque Saturday night and youve got a really fine weekend at the tracknnMy Mini has a new setup for this race Speed parts from my sponsor Mini Mania have been added by my sponsor Bay Bridge Motors and USTCC sponsor Nitto has provided four brand new NT 01 tires This will be my first official race with the US Touring Car Championship and I look forward to hitting the grid with more horsepower and quicker lap times Alas it is not to be Ive fallen victim to modomania something I have been warning people about for years on the Mini forums Change one thing at a time Ive said otherwise you wont have a clue if something goes wrong Youd think Id listen Instead we made five changes to the engine and the ECU does not like it Horsepower has actually gone down But Im stuck with it for the weekend so Ill do the best I can break the tires in well and fix it before the next event Even with the car being slow I manage to wheel it around to within a second of my fastest lap at Sears PointnnBob Scheer is back with his Ireland Engineering MCS Bob is way faster than me but because hes not used to the track we qualify close and were side by side on the grid for the race Finally in the late afternoon our turn to race arrives The track is hot under a warm California sun and a little greasy with all the rubber that has been laid down today Caution will be called for at the off-camber Turn 2 and the braking zone for the hairpin Turn 11 USTCC goes out first for the warmup lap then pulls up by startfinish for the standing start The furled green flag goes up (engines rev) it is unfurled up high (cars seem to lean forward in anticipation) it drops and the air is filled with the sound of roaring engines and screeching tires as the field blasts off for Turn 1nnAll except me In all the excitement and adrenaline flow I make the same mistake I did at Pahrump I catch the detent to reverse on my attempted one-two shift and cant find second gear expletive deleted Rookie mistake The field streams by me on both sides and by the time I get it going Im behind the Honda Challenge cars The Civic in front of me is just a little slower than me and is braking just a little sooner I pull up next to him several times but Im running with the pirates now They show no mercy and give no quarter and I just dont have the skills yet to shoulder my way by and get awaynnAnd so I finish last In spite of the embarrassing start it was far from a wasted effort I have completed two more events as a provisional rookie racer without incident or going off track One more and I can apply for my NASA National racing license and the gloves can come off Before that happens though I have homework to do I have to find more horsepower for the car and I have to practice standing starts until that 1-2 shift is automatic Next time will be differentnnIt was great to have some of you Mini owners at the track cheering us on Next time at Thunderhill on May 3-4 Bob and I should be joined on the grid by Rich Peterson in his USTCC MCS Hopefully as more Minis join the racing we will see more of you out there too

My first encounter with this incredible structure was back in 1984 when I nwas stationed at Ft Ord near Monterey California n nEach year around the third week of November they light the Pigeon Point nLighthouse and let the 24 main beams remain still for about 5 minutes so nphotographers can take long exposure pictures of the lighthouse Afterwards the beams begin to rotate so that to a distant ship they will see one flash every 10 seconds I have been to this event several times since learning about it a number of years ago Each year is different and more and more photographers show up n nIf you plan to shoot this event I recommend you bring the following: n n A heavy duty tripod due to the wind and long exposure required n n Remote control cable release (or infrared if your camera supports nit) You can use the time if you don't have one n n Better lenses tend to take less time to capture the image n n Lunch and Dinner so you can arrive early and stake out your real nestate for the optimal shot n n Warm clothing We even bring chairs and blankets n n A red flashlight so not to disrupt yours and other photographers nnight vision Nothing will upset another photographer like hitting them nsquare in the face with a 5 cell Mag light n n A donation to restore this spectacular lighthouse which was ndamaged in 2001 n nThis shot was taken from the recently built platform that extends to the nsouth side of the lighthouse There is also a new path down to the beach nthat wasn't there last year If the tide is out this year it might be a nbetter position because you could get the reflection of the beams in the nwater I'll have to arrive early and check out the conditions n nIn 1853 the Clipper Ship Carrier Pigeon ran aground on rocks off the coast nand sank After several other ships followed suit it was decided to build nthe lighthouse was finished and lit for the first time on November 15th n1872 This event is celebrated each year with the lighting of the main nlens During the rest of the year curtains block the view of the lens nAn electric light maintained by the Coast Guard replaces the main lens My nfirst encounter with this incredible structure was back in 1884 when I was nstationed at Ft Ord near Monterey California I took my wife and kids on na tour to the top of the lighthouse which provided a spectacular view n nIn December of 2001 a large chunk of metal and concrete came tumbling to the nground This effectively closed the lighthouse to the public and tours to nthe top are restricted to special guest Pigeon Point Lighthouse now belongs nto the State Park system and since the damage they have been attempting to nraise the millions of dollars necessary to restore the lighthouse nCurrently metal cables have been secured to the top of the lighthouse and a nchain link fence surrounds the lighthouse The cables have started rusting nand caused long orange streaks of rust to run down the side of the normally nall white structure It effectively ruins many daytime photographs So if nyou can bring a few dollars to donate it is greatly appreciated by all us nphotographers If you cannot make it to the lighthouse but would like to nhelp please visit the official site at nwwwcalparksorgprogramsresourcespigeon-pointhtml n nCheers n- Darv nLiquidMoonlightcom n Darvin Atkeson
