York I found that our cinema is a little exaggerated To make a mark in the West we have to reach their level without losing our identity culture or songs I don't want to star in a Hollywood film but want to make a film that crosses over universally (Movie Mag May 2006) n nOn trying to get Paheli (2005) an Oscar nomination: There's a misreport here about our lobbying at the Oscars The understanding that we have of the Oscars is very different from how it really is Because Indian film foreign films are not known you're supposed to hire a PR company which we did It's not as if you just go there show your films lobby and talk to them You're not allowed to lobby as in you're not allowed to meet the Academy members talk to them or even make a call to them You just keep advertising in the 'For Consideration For Oscars' category We took out full page ads in papers like Variety and Hollywood Reporter The only good thing we did was that we advertised very frequently it was promoted on the same scale as the biggest of films We did it because we could afford it (Movie Mag May 2006) n nI felt Asoka (2001) should have been chosen for the Oscars We had worked towards that We had these international distributors for it We were the first to actually release an Indian film internationally in traditionally non-Indian theaters We spent a lot of money and lost a lot of money too We were the first to put up boardings in London in tube stations We did speak to everyone who was anyone here wondering if Asoka could go to the Oscars But the one that got chosen was Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) which was even better So we had no complaints After that I didn't make any film for the foreign market (Movie Mag May 2006) n n n nWhere Are They Now n(September 2004) He is doing When Elvis Costello's first record was released in 1977 his bristling cynicism and anger linked him with the punk and new wave explosion A cursory listen to My Aim Is True proves that the main connection that Costello had with the punks was his unbridled passion He tore through rock's back pages taking whatever he wanted as well as borrowing from country Tin Pan Alley pop reggae and many other musical genres Over his career that musical eclecticism has distinguished Costello's records as much as his fiercely literate lyrics Because he supports his lyrics with his richly diverse music Costello is one of the most innovative influential and best songwriters since Bob DylannnThe son of British bandleader Ross McManus Costello (born Declan McManus) worked as a computer programmer during the early '70s performing under the name DP Costello in various folk clubs In 1976 he became the leader of country-rock group Flip City During this time he recorded several demo tapes of his original material with the intention of landing a record contract A copy of these tapes made its way to Jake Riviera one of the heads of the fledgling independent record label Stiff Riviera signed Costello to Stiff as a solo artist in 1977 the singersongwriter adopted the name Elvis Costello at this time taking his first name from Elvis Presley and his last name from his mother's maiden namennWith former Brinsley Schwarz bassist Nick Lowe producing Costello began recording his debut album with the American band Clover providing support Less Than Zero the first single released from these sessions appeared in April of 1977 The single failed to chart as did its follow-up Alison which was released the following month By the summer of 1977 Costello's permanent backing band had been assembled Featuring bassist Bruce Thomas keyboardist Steve Nieve and drummer Pete Thomas (no relation to Bruce) the group was named the Attractions they made their live debut in July of 1977nnMy Aim Is True his debut album was released in the summer of 1977 to positive reviews the album climbed to number 14 on the British charts but it wasn't released on his American label Columbia Records until later in the year Along with Nick Lowe Ian Dury and Wreckless Eric Costello participated in the Stiffs Live package tour in the fall At the end of the year Jake Riviera split from Stiff Records to form Radar Records taking Costello and Lowe with him Costello's last single for Stiff the reggae-inflected Watching the Detectives became his first hit climbing to number 15 at the end of the yearnnThis Year's Model Costello's first album recorded with the Attractions was released in the spring of 1978 A rawer harder-rocking record than My Aim Is True This Year's Model was also a bigger hit reaching number four in Britain and number 30 in America Released the following year Armed Forces was a more ambitious and musically diverse album than either of his previous records It was another hit reaching number two in the UK and cracking the Top Ten in the US Oliver's Army the first single from the album also peaked at number two in Britain none of the singles from Armed Forces charted in America In the summer of 1979 he produced the self-titled debut album by the Specials the leaders of the ska revival movementnnIn February of 1980 the soul-influenced Get Happy was released it was the first record on Riviera's new record label F-Beat Get Happy was another hit peaking at number two in Britain and number 11 in America Later that year two collections of B-sides singles and outtakes called Taking Liberties was released in America in Britain a similar album called Ten Bloody Marys Ten How's Your Fathers appeared as a cassette-only release complete with different tracks than the American versionnnCostello and the Attractions released Trust in early 1981 it was his fifth album in a row produced by Nick Lowe Trust debuted at number nine in the British charts and worked its way into the Top 30 in the US During the spring of 1981 Costello and the Attractions began recording an album of country covers with famed Nashville producer Billy Sherrill who recorded hit records for George Jones and Charlie Rich among others The resulting album Almost Blue was released at the end of the year to mixed reviews although the single A Good Year for the Roses was a British Top Ten hitnnCostello's next album Imperial Bedroom (1982) was an ambitious set of lushly arranged pop produced by Geoff Emerick who engineered several of the Beatles' most acclaimed albums Imperial Bedroom received some of his best reviews yet it failed to yield a Top 40 hit in either England or America the album did debut at number six in the UK For 1983's Punch the Clock Costello worked with Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley who were responsible for several of the biggest British hits in the early '80s The collaboration proved commercially successful as the album peaked at number three in the UK (number 24 in the US) and the single Everyday I Write the Book cracked the Top 40 in both Britain and America Costello tried to replicate the success of Punch the Clock with his next record 1984's Goodbye Cruel World but the album was a commercial and critical failurennAfter the release of Goodbye Cruel World Costello embarked on his first solo tour in the summer of 1984 Costello was relatively inactive during 1985 releasing only one new single (The People's Limousine a collaboration with singersongwriter T-Bone Burnett released under the name the Coward Brothers) and producing Rum Sodomy and the Lash the second album by the punk-folk band the Pogues Both projects were indications that he was moving toward a stripped-down folky approach and 1986's King of America confirmed that suspicion Recorded without the Attractions and released under the name the Costello Show King of America was essentially a country-folk album and it received the best reviews of any album he had recorded since Imperial Bedroom It was followed at the end of the year by the edgy Blood and Chocolate a reunion with the Attractions and producer Nick Lowe Costello would not record another album with the Attractions until 1994nnDuring 1987 Costello negotiated a new worldwide record contract with Warner Bros Records and began a songwriting collaboration with Paul McCartney Two years later he released Spike the most musically diverse collection he had ever recorded Spike featured the first appearance of songs written by Costello and McCartney including the single Veronica Veronica became his biggest American hit peaking at number 19 Two years later he released Mighty Like a Rose which echoed Spike in its diversity yet it was a darker more challenging record In 1993 Costello collaborated with the Brodsky Quartet on The Juliet Letters a song cycle that was the songwriter's first attempt at classical music he also wrote an entire album for former Transvision Vamp singer Wendy James called Now Ain't the Time for Your Tears That same year Costello licensed the rights to his pre-1987 catalog (My Aim Is True to Blood and Chocolate) to Rykodisc in AmericannCostello reunited with the Attractions to record the majority of 1994's Brutal Youth the most straightforward and pop-oriented album he had recorded since Goodbye Cruel World The Attractions backed Costello on a worldwide tour in 1994 and played concerts with him throughout 1995 In 1995 he released his long-shelved collection of covers Kojak Variety In the spring of 1996 Costello released All This Useless Beauty which featured a number of original songs he had given to other artists but never recorded himself Painted from Memory a collaboration with the legendary Burt Bacharach followed in 1998nnThe album was a success critically but it only succeeded in foreign markets outside of their home countries of the United States and Britain A jazz version of the record made with Bill Frisell was put on hold when Costello's label began to freeze up due to political maneuvering Undaunted Costello and Bacharach hit the road and performed in the States and Europe Then after Bacharach left Costello added Steve Nieve to the tour and traveled around the world on what they dubbed the Lonely World Tour This took them into 1999 where both Notting Hill and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me featured significant contributions from Costello In fact he appeared with Bacharach in the latter as a pair of Carnaby Street musicians albeit street musicians with a gorgeous grand piano at their disposalnnContinuing his tour with Nieve he began singing the last song with a microphone forcing the audience to sit in complete silence as he usually performed Couldn't Call It Unexpected No 4 with nothing but his dulcet baritone filling the auditorium After the record company's various mergers ended Costello found himself on Universal Records and he tested their promotional abilities with a second greatest-hits record (The Very Best of Elvis Costello) The label promoted the album strongly making it a hit in his native Britain Unfortunately they also made it clear that they had no intention of giving a new album the same promotional push leaving him to venture into other fields as he awaited the end of his record contract His first project was an album of pop standards performed with Anne Sofie Von Otter which included a few songs originally written by Costello The album came out in March of 2001 on the Deutsche Grammophon label and it neatly coincided with the extensive re-release of his entire catalog up to 1996 under Rhino Records Each disc included an extra CD of rare material and liner notes written by Costello making them incredible treats for fansnnIn 2001 he found himself with a residency at UCLA where he performed several concerts and was instrumental in teaching music during the year He also began work on a self-produced album that featured Pete Thomas and Nieve -- now billed as a band called the Imposters -- entitled When I Was Cruel and the album finally saw release on Island Records in the spring of 2002 at the end of the year he released a collection of B-sides and leftovers from the album's sessions entitled Cruel SmilennWhen I Was Cruel kicked off another productive era for the ever prolific Costello In 2003 he returned with North a collection of classically styled pop songs pitched halfway between Gershwin and Sondheim The next year he collaborated with his new wife Diana Krall on her first collection of original material The Girl in the Other Room That fall Costello released two albums of original material: a classical work entitled Il Sogno and the concept album The Delivery Man a rock roll record cut with the Imposters My Flame Burns Blue from 2006 was a live album with Costello fronting the 52-piece jazz orchestra the Metropole Orkest On the album classic Costello songs with new orchestral arrangements appeared alongside new compositions and a performance of the entire Il Sogno The River in Reverse a collaboration with RB legend Allen Toussaint arrived in 2006 followed by Momofuku credited to Elvis Costello the Imposters in 2008 from Lost Highway

Erza used to be a child slave where she was forced to help build a tower called the R-system Over time Erza made friends with other slaves among them was Grard When she and the other slaves tried to rebel the evil magicians overwhelmed the slaves but it was then when Erza's magic awakens and kills them all setting them free from slaveryA cult tried to build this tower to resurrect Zeref They had slaves to build it Erza being one of them Erza has another flashback In the flashback Gerard tells her they have to fight to survive now Caught by another guard Gerard get beat and she gets sent back to her prison No longer able to take the abuse she attacks guards starting the revolt At first prevailing mages start to show up and they begin to lose A magic blast comes towards Erza but Rob interferes saving Erza but killing him She gets very angry triggering her magic She controls all the swords around her and wins the battle for everyone When everyone is on the boat to go home Erza goes back in the dungeons to look for Gerard Already possessed by Zeref Gerard attacks Erza and tells her he is going to complete the R-System to resurrect Zeref's body He tells her not to tell anybody about the tower or he will kill everyone She then wakes up on an island crying about the events just witnessedAfter Erza escapes from the island of slaves she tries to find Fairy Tail She had heard about Fairy Tail from an old man named Rob another slave that was forced to work on the R-system he also cared for her like a grandpa Eight years prior to the beginning of the story she found Fairy Tail and taken in as a member Upon joining Erza immediately developed a habit to wear armour as it made her feel safe It was around that time when Makarov took her to Porlyusica to get a artificial eye to replace her right eye that had became blind because of an injury (myanimelistnet)

Poseidon was the ruler of the sea a powerful god in Greek mythology who was often called the Earth-shaker His father was the Titan Cronus who at the time was ruler of the Universe and his mother was Rhea Cronus was a paranoid ruler because it had been prophesized that one of his own sons would dethrone him just as Cronus had done to his father UranusThus Cronus would swallow the children whom Rhea bore him He figured that it was the safest way to ensure that none of his offspring overthrew himOne by one the children were swallowed by Cronus: first Hestia then Demeter Hera Hades and Poseidon (Some mythographers claim that Rhea tricked Cronus by presenting a foal instead of the baby Poseidon for consumption but most agree that Poseidon had been swallowed like the rest of his siblings)Needless to say this constant swallowing of her children enraged Rhea She bore her third son Zeus in the middle of the night and gave him for safekeeping to Gaea (Mother Earth) She fooled Cronus into believing he had swallowed his new son by substituting a rock wrapped in baby blanketsWhen Zeus grew up and with the help of Gaea and his mother Rhea he slipped Cronus a potion that made the Titan disgorge the swallowed children Being gods they were unharmed albeit a tad dazed and confused With Zeus serving as their leader Poseidon Hades Hestia Demeter and Hera waged war against the Titans for supremacy of the UniverseAssisted by the Cyclops (they gave Zeus his thunderbolts Poseidon his trident and Hades his helmet of invisibility) and the Hecatoncheires (the Hundred-handed-ones) the siblings fought a terrible war that lasted ten years In the end they were victorious banishing their vanquished foes to the deepest depths of the Underworld called Tartarus This dark and woeful place is as far beneath the earth as heaven is above the earth Around Tartarus runs a fence of bronze with gates of bronze which Poseidon fixed in such as way as to offer no escape and there the Titans were forever confinedAfter Zeus with his brothers and sisters defeated the Titans anddethroned Cronus the three brothers drew lots out of a helmet todetermine which one of the three realms each would rule Zeus won the heavens and thus became the supreme ruler Hades got the Underworld and Poseidon got the sea The Earth remained common to all threePoseidon was very powerful second only to Zeus backed off and looked elsewhere for a wifeNext he approached Amphitrite another Nereid who wanted nothing to do with Poseidon For whatever reason she was turned-off by the god of the sea and fled to the Atlas Mountains in order to escape his advancesNot to be denied Poseidon sent messengers all over the earth to look for her Eventually after much wandering a man named Delphinus located Amphitrite and was so convincing in pleading Poseidon's case and his love for her that at last she yielded and agreed to the marriage Delphinus himself organized the entire wedding and a splendid party it wasThe union of Poseidon and Amphitrite produced three children: Triton Rhode and Benthesicyme But like his brother Zeus Poseidon wasn't a very faithful husband and engaged in numerous affairs with goddesses nymphs and even mortalsUnderstandably jealous Amphitrite punished many of her husband's lovers just like Hera did to her husband Zeus' women She was particularly upset with Poseidon's infatuation with Scylla gorgeous daughter of Phorcys and was determined to punish her indiscretion Amphitrite threw magical herbs into Scylla's bathing pool and when the woman took her bath at once she transformed into a barking monster with six heads and twelve feetPoseidon was never fully satisfied with his share of the world and once even conspired with other Olympians to dethrone Zeus But his plot was discovered and in punishment Zeus exiled him to earth There he was to build the walls of Troy for king Laomedon He was helped by Apollo who was also banished from Olympus at that timeThe two Olympian gods assumed the likeness of men and undertook to fortify Troy for wages Apollo was able to move the heaviest of stones with just the sound of his lyre But when they had fortified it and the task was completed the foolish king Laomedon would not pay their wages Therefore Apollo sent a pestilence and Poseidon sent a Sea-monster which snatched away the people of the plainThe oracles foretold deliverance from these calamities if Laomedon would expose the maiden Hesione to be devoured by Poseidon's Sea-monster Not knowing what else to do the king followed the oracles' advice and fastened her to the rocks near the sea but at the last moment the greatest Greek hero Heracles (Hercules) saved her and she married TelamonGetting stiffed for his wages was also the chief reason why Poseidon would gain patronage of the famous city state called Athens Poseidon struck the side of the Acropolis and a fountain spurted forth its water much to the amazement of the people However the water was salty which proved no use to the populace Athena presented the people with the first olive tree which was used for food oil and provided wood to burn in the winter The gods and goddesses had assembled to pass judgment with the males voting for the god of the sea and the females choosing Athena's olive tree Since the women outnumbered the men by one Athena's gift was judged to be the most useful and Athena was awarded the city which forever after carried her name - Athens Known for his anger and not being the best of sports Poseidonproceeded to sent huge waves to flood the area in a mean-spiritedparting gesture To appease Poseidon's wrath the women of Athens were deprived of their vote and the men forbidden to bear their mothers names In the shrine of Erechtheus there remained preserved a long time an olive tree and a pool of salt water which had been set there by Poseidon and Athena as tokens when they contended for the city Another dispute arose between Poseidon and Athena over the city of Troezen but Zeus nipped it in the bud by declaring that it was to be shared equally between the two an arrangement loathed by both parties Quarrelsome Poseidon thus engaged in disputes with: Zeus over the island of Aegina Dionysus over the island of Naxos Helios the sun god over the area of Corinth (Poseidon was upset because he received the Isthmus of Corinth only while Helios got the prestigious Acropolis of Corinth) Hera wife of Zeus got into it with Poseidon over Argolis and that one got real ugly with accusations flying all over the place and Poseidon claiming that the Olympians were biased against him Poseidon's argument with Hera was referred for arbitration to a panel of three River-gods who made a decision in favor of Hera Outraged Poseidon vowed revenge on them Zeus had forbidden him to bring on floods as he had done in Athens so the sea god did the exact opposite -- He dried up the streams of his three judges (Inachus Cephissus and Asterion) and they never again flowed in the summer But Poseidon could be compassionate Anymone was a Danaid (nymph of nature) who was greatly distressed by these droughts and taking pity on her Poseidon caused the Argive river of Lerna to perpetually flow bringing Anymone much-needed relief Poseidon liked to boast that he created the first horse and it wasaccepted that he instituted horse-racing He even claimed to haveconstructed the first horse bridle although Athena begs to differ on thatthe two rarely got along at first even though eventually they reconciled and worked on some common causes Like Zeus it took many years for Poseidon to mature and not always act belligerently Although Poseidon is adored for giving men the first horse his primary importance was as Lord of the Sea At his command winds rose and the most violent of storms began but when he drove in his golden chariot over the water the storms subsided and tranquil peace followed his wheels Ancient sailors and warriors would pray and offer tributes to the great Poseidon prior to undertaking a sea journey In turn Poseidon could be cruel and hostile to those who displeased him such as the hero of the Trojan War Odysseus who suffered great tribulations at the hands of Poseidon while embarked on his Odyssey back home Both the bull and the horse are associated with Poseidon but the bull is associated with many other gods as well so the horse can be considered his animalHe was always depicted carrying or using his distinguishing weapon the trident a three-pronged spear which he used to shatter and shake anything he pleased much like his brother Zeus used his thunderbolts That's why he was commonly referred to as the Earth Shaker The trident his symbol was the gift of the Cyclopes who had fought with the Born on October 13 1925 in what was then rural Bellmore Long Island there really wasn't much in Leonard Alfred Schneider's background that might have made one foresee the the acid-tongued hipster who would shake the American night of the fifties and sixties as forcibly as he did with his brilliant and biting satire He first burst upon the national consciousness in the spring of 1959 with two riotous appearances on the Steve Allen Show There had never been a comedian like him before: He was handsome smart and as hip as they come A real finger snapping urban bon vivant A combination sage rabbi and verbal kamikaze Lenny Bruce was the real thing The facets of his psychological make up including his all-too-obvious personal vulnerabilities were there for all the world to behold bravely exhibited on the nightclub stage That he was a troubled tormented soul there can be no doubt Unhappiness and insecurity dogged him his entire life Close friends would remember him as a basically sad and lonely man But damn When he walked on stage he was funny Jim Screamingly funnyIn the placid 1950s era of Eisenhower I Love Lucy and hoola-hoops the American establishment (to no one's surprise) wasn't ready for the kind of honesty that Lenny was presenting to the public Walter Winchell branded him America's Number One Vomic In late 1958 Time Magazine would crown him the sickest of the sick comedians Rather than dismiss this affront outright Lenny in typical Lenny fashion embraced it The cover photo for his first album The Sick Humor of Lenny Bruce portrayed him having a picnic in a cemetery How's that for moxie That same LP included a classic bit called Religions Incorporated which depicted a fast talking Hollywood booking agent talking on the phone to his client the newly ordained Pope John XXIII: HELLO JOHNNY WHAT'S SHAKIN' BABY Yeah the puff of white smoke knocked me out I got'cha booked for the Sullivan Show on the nineteenth Oh did ya dig Spellman on 'Stars Of Jazz' OK sweetie Yeah right You cool it too Nah nobody know's you're JewishWhile that type of humor might be considered tame by the anything goes standards of 2006 in 1958 it was positively revolutionaryFor three golden years he was cooking appearing as a headliner in the top clubs across the nation When he opened at Mister Kelly's in Chicago crowds were lining up around the block to see him According to his biographer Albert Goldman word had reached the windy city that this new young comic was sensational On February 3 1961 he actually did a gig at Carnegie Hall Carnegie Hall Even he couldn't believe it: Maybe the people who own this place don't even know we're here He speculated that the entire audience had been admitted into the hall by a good and corrupt janitor: 'Alright just don't make no noise and clean up after you're finished alright' Alright That night the Island of Manhattan was blanketed by one of the worst blizzards in its history All bridges and tunnels leading into and out of the city were shut down Every street in town was closed to traffic - and yet somehow Lenny was able to pack his people into a concert that didn't begin until after midnight It was a Standing Room Only performance that the old gang at Lindy's still talk about Fortunately the entire evening was preserved on tape and is available today on CD Lenny Bruce At Carnegie Hall is the greatest performance of his all-too-brief careerSeven months after Carnegie Hall in the autumn of 1961 the arrests started On September 29th Lenny was arrested in his Philadelphia hotel room for possession of drugs for which he had a prescription Five days later on October 4th he was busted at the Jazz Workshop in San Fransisco for obscenity Although he was eventually acquitted on both counts the pattern had begun The persecution would continue for the rest of his lifeDuring the next three years he would be busted nineteen times on various obscenity and narcotics charges Law enforcement agencies across the country pursued him with a relentlessness normally reserved for rapists and mass murderers It got to the point where he was spending more time (and money) in court defending himself than he was onstage exhibiting his genius as a performer before an audience of appreciative fans By the late winter of 1964 his dependence on drugs particularly heroin was starting to take a noticeable toll on his appearance and his health In addition to that he gained too much weight as a result of poor eating habits In short he was falling apart In an effort to save his career he became obsessed with the intricacies of the American Legal system As his act started to transform itself from a surreal verbal roller coaster ride into a comically inspired lecture on the law he began to alienate his audienceI'm sorry if I wasn't very funny tonight I'm not a comedian I'm Lenny BruceBecause a conviction would have resulted in a nightclub owner losing his liquor license offers for work eventually dwindled down to nothing His home became subject to numerous late night raids by the LA vice squad One officer expecting to find him engaged in drug use instead found him calmly listening to a record of John Phillip Sousa marches which curiously in addition to jazz he had a passion forThen came the arrest which would destroy him On April 4 1964 he was busted at the Cafe Au Go-Go in New York City for giving a lewd and indecent performance What had bugged the NY District Attorney Frank Hogan was Lenny's description of Jackie Kennedy during the assassination of the late president Life Magazine had described the former first lady hurling herself onto the trunk of the presidential limousine by saying that she was courageously trying to help the secret serviceman aboard Bullshit said Lenny Bruce She was trying to haul ass to save her assThe ensuing trial would end in his ruin as a man and as an artist In 1960 his yearly income had been over 350000 per year By October of 1965 it had fallen to under 4000 Shortly thereafter he was found guilty of obscenity in a New York court of law and sentenced to four months in jail In the summer of 1965 his act was filmed at the Basin Street West in San Francisco Viewing the film today it is disturbingly obvious that Lenny Bruce while still hysterically funny is a broken dying manOn the morning of August 3 1966 while his New York conviction was still under appeal he received in the mail a foreclosure notice on his house from the Bank of America Later that evening he was found dead in his upstairs bathroom a hypodermic needle still embedded in his arm For the next several hours the Los Angeles Police against the anguished protests of his friends and his mother allowed photographers from newspapers and television to step up take photos and film of his naked bloated body lying lifeless on the cold tile floor He was forty years oldOn December 23 2003 he became the first person in the history of the state of New York to have his conviction overturned posthumously Better late than never I suppose And yet I'm convinced that Lenny who was armed to the teeth with a state-of-the-art bullshit detector would not have failed to see the very sick irony in thatWhat direction might Lenny Bruce have taken had he been able to save himself Sadly we'll never know Of this we can be sure: He'd have an awful lot to say about the America of the early twenty-first century It makes me laugh just contemplating what his take on the obscene condition of modern day Washington DC might be Can you imagine

Born in Wavre south-east of Brussels Andr Cantillion joined the Belgian air arm in late 1939 On the outbreak of war his flying school transferred to France and then on to Morocco to continue training until the Fall of France Having then decided to fight on he eventually ended up in Cardiff UK on 5 August 1940 where he was accepted into the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (119856) After gaining his wings and serving on a Target Towing Flight for some time he was commissioned in mid-January 1942 to No 1 PRU at RAF Benson Oxon from where he flew a number of unarmed photo-recce sorties over the Continent He met his fate on 17 August 1942 aged 22 on a mission to Kiel when he fell to the guns of the Fw190s of IIIJG1 based at Husum crashing at the controls of Spitfire PR IV AB814 on the small island of Sderoog (northern Frisians) off the northern German coast Initially buried in the military cemetery at Hamburg his remains were transferred to his home town in 1952 where he now rests in the family vault
