The hikers stayed atop St Vrain for just 5 minutes shivering in the cold wind The wind was strong enough to knock a hiker down on the boulders Luckily everyone made it safely back to the trees

Strong winds confirmed that a hike down into a forest of trees might be a good idea today It kept Matthew (left) and William a bit cold at first but the hikers are just minutes from the trees which will dissipate the wind considerably

The red lanterns Bry got for my last birthday are still kicking around They used to be hanging from the power lines but one day the wind blew so hard they got blown across the alleyway Now they just hang in the trees

I took this picture outside of my brothers house When I first saw it I right away knew I had to take a picture of it to use it as one of 20 photos It sort of shows to you a seasonal time like for example in this picture its the fall These are several leaves that have fallen from some of his trees and dried up because of ether the hot weather lack of water of just a season thing Whats also neat is that you can tell that the little bit of gust wind is blowing them away

On da edge only thing that made this portion easier to climb down than the way we went up was that there were trees some ledges versus just straight rock and we were protected for the most part from the wind and somewhat from the rain

Some bonsai trainers seek not just to echo the larger versions of their bonsai but sometimes seek to echo the effects of Nature on trees This wind-wiped and split tree looks like it was stuck by lightning :D

The type of tree that shed 90 of its leaves in the morning hours of October 23rd There was no wind and they just fell constantly all over the city the same trees did this

It seems that this church lost its bell tower and had a free standing one built close to it It may just be a magnificently themed cellular antenna array In California we make them look like palm trees and wind mills This is nice

A 150 about to touch down on the 'runway' (33) at the Barriere strip It's short (under 2000') and steeply inclined (33 Low15 High) flattening out for about the last 700' of 33 at the top n nLanding (uphill) on 33 and taking off (downhill) on 15R seems to work (that's an 8 foot drop-off just aft of the C150) n nBecause it's a no-thru public road that becomes the low end of an inclined airstrip there is always the possibility of unsuspecting local drivers meandering onto the runway just as you disappear taxiing up onto the flat piece for take off They're listening to an iPod and you're listening to an engine watching for potholes wildlife or wind and tuning the radio You break over the top at full throttle and there's a pickup load of kids going for a drive For that reason I recommend either posting a guard at the bottom or flagging it off with Caution tape to at least buy time n nThere are also cattle (and plenty of wildlife) in the area so as you taxi up for takeoff keep a lookout for vertebrate life on the verges and in the trees adjacent n n1232 MHz seems appropriate but as this strip is not Gazetted or well-used exteme caution is advised along the Thompson River corridor n nBarriere is a private strip and one must be prepared to accept the owner's terms (including immediate departure) as they live very close by n nAbove information is provided for reference only Rather than a guide to a specific airstrip it is simply a reminder to use proper procedures and good airmanship at all times
