            <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm20/MrOldskool32/?action=view&amp;current=Tavares-With-Names-1.jpg&quot; title=&quot;Tavares-With-Names-1.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;http://th292.photobucket.com/albums/mm20/MrOldskool32/th_Tavares-With-Names-1.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;Tavares-With-Names-1.jpg&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br&gt;Biography - Tavares-With-Names-1.jpg&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This week we&apos;re doing a tribute to the band TAVARES BROTHERS  This is a band who doesn&apos;t get much recognition anymore  These brothers have been performing and singing for over 40 years  The Tavares Brothers were born in New Bedford Massachussetts  They started their career in the late 60&apos;s singing in local clubs in their hometown mainly covering RB Legends of that era  They landed their first record contract with Capitol Records in 1973  Their first Single Release was the hit CHECK IT OUT That song was also the foundation and centerpiece for their first albumLP named CHECK IT OUT  That LP was produced by Johnny Bristol  That song CHECK IT OUT reached the top 10 and was the band&apos;s first top 40  Johnny Bristol also produced the hit The sound that lonely makes  What gave Tavares their unique distinctive sound was their ability to harmonize amongst eachother and that the way they would change lead vocals throughout the song That was the foundation of their Tradmark early 70&apos;s sound After their first Album they released a second album which was produced by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter These producers were known for the success in producing the FOUR TOPP&apos;S Keeper in the Castle albumThe first album they produced for Tavares was HARD CORE POETRY  Lambert and Potter produced a second album which was Tavares&apos;s third LP IN THE CITY  They Lambert and Potter helped Tavares get their first 1 RB Hit which was a remake of Daryl Hall and John Oates&apos;s She&apos;s gone Lambert and Potter also produced Tavares&apos;s first Top 10 pop hit It only takes a minute Although their first 3 albums were successful the release of their next album put them in a league of distinguished black artists in the 70&apos;s  That album was SKY HIGH That album was produced by Freddie Perreu who at the time was working for Motown Records On this album the song Heaven must be missing an angel was released and the song Don&apos;t take away the music  In 1978 and 1979 Tavares had Freddie Perreu produce two more LP&apos;s for them LOVE STORM and FUTURE BOUND But the band&apos;s biggest exposure was yet to come  Their remake of The Bee Gee&apos;s More than a woman which was released on the movie SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER SOUNDTRACK gave them their first Grammy  But on the flipside that song also gave them the sterotype of being a Disco Band  They represented that sound through the 70&apos;s because that was the type of music that was in at the time but the brother&apos;s had something to prove  They wanted to prove that they were more than just a disco band they wanted to show their fans that they had alot of Soul in them So they teamed up with Bobby Martin who was a veteran producer out of Philadelphia and made their LP MADAM BUTTERFLY This LP was their first Soul Lp that included the forgotten hit Never had a love like this before After this album they came out with the album SUPERCHARGED which was produced by Bobby Columby and David Foster  The brothers wrote and produced their first album in 1980 named LOVE UPRISING After Love uprising the band self produced their next album named LOVELINE which featured some songs from a promising writer named Kashif After a long relationship with Capitol Records the band decided to go seperate directions and joined RCA Records  They released two albums while under contract with RCA  They were NEW DIRECTIONS Hence the name and WORLDS OF MUSIC That  LP had the hit song Penny for your thoughts and their final RB hit Deeper in Love  What gave aided to Tavares&apos;s success throughout their musical career was their brotherly love they had amongst eachother the love they had for music and the love they had for their fans Today you can still see them perform mainly at Disco Revivals  Only three of the five brothers are perfoming today but if you get the opportunity to see them in concert it would be a life long cherished moment because Tavares is a band who always brought uniqueness to the music industry and for that they deserve to be tributed to and mentioned for time to come  If you have any comments requests or questions regarding this tribute feel free to send an Email and I&apos;ll be more than willing to send information Gracias MR OLDSKOOLALBUMSCHECK IT OUT 1974HARD CORE POETRY 1974IN THE CITY 1975SKY HIGH 1976LOVE STORM 1977FUTURE BOUND 1978MADDAM BUTTERFLY 1979SUPERCHARGED 1980LOVE UPRISING 1981NEW DIRECTIONS 1982WORLDS AND MUSIC 1983&lt;/p&gt;</description>

                <media:description>This week we&apos;re doing a tribute to the band TAVARES BROTHERS  This is a band who doesn&apos;t get much recognition anymore  These brothers have been performing and singing for over 40 years  The Tavares Brothers were born in New Bedford Massachussetts  They started their career in the late 60&apos;s singing in local clubs in their hometown mainly covering RB Legends of that era  They landed their first record contract with Capitol Records in 1973  Their first Single Release was the hit CHECK IT OUT That song was also the foundation and centerpiece for their first albumLP named CHECK IT OUT  That LP was produced by Johnny Bristol  That song CHECK IT OUT reached the top 10 and was the band&apos;s first top 40  Johnny Bristol also produced the hit The sound that lonely makes  What gave Tavares their unique distinctive sound was their ability to harmonize amongst eachother and that the way they would change lead vocals throughout the song That was the foundation of their Tradmark early 70&apos;s sound After their first Album they released a second album which was produced by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter These producers were known for the success in producing the FOUR TOPP&apos;S Keeper in the Castle albumThe first album they produced for Tavares was HARD CORE POETRY  Lambert and Potter produced a second album which was Tavares&apos;s third LP IN THE CITY  They Lambert and Potter helped Tavares get their first 1 RB Hit which was a remake of Daryl Hall and John Oates&apos;s She&apos;s gone Lambert and Potter also produced Tavares&apos;s first Top 10 pop hit It only takes a minute Although their first 3 albums were successful the release of their next album put them in a league of distinguished black artists in the 70&apos;s  That album was SKY HIGH That album was produced by Freddie Perreu who at the time was working for Motown Records On this album the song Heaven must be missing an angel was released and the song Don&apos;t take away the music  In 1978 and 1979 Tavares had Freddie Perreu produce two more LP&apos;s for them LOVE STORM and FUTURE BOUND But the band&apos;s biggest exposure was yet to come  Their remake of The Bee Gee&apos;s More than a woman which was released on the movie SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER SOUNDTRACK gave them their first Grammy  But on the flipside that song also gave them the sterotype of being a Disco Band  They represented that sound through the 70&apos;s because that was the type of music that was in at the time but the brother&apos;s had something to prove  They wanted to prove that they were more than just a disco band they wanted to show their fans that they had alot of Soul in them So they teamed up with Bobby Martin who was a veteran producer out of Philadelphia and made their LP MADAM BUTTERFLY This LP was their first Soul Lp that included the forgotten hit Never had a love like this before After this album they came out with the album SUPERCHARGED which was produced by Bobby Columby and David Foster  The brothers wrote and produced their first album in 1980 named LOVE UPRISING After Love uprising the band self produced their next album named LOVELINE which featured some songs from a promising writer named Kashif After a long relationship with Capitol Records the band decided to go seperate directions and joined RCA Records  They released two albums while under contract with RCA  They were NEW DIRECTIONS Hence the name and WORLDS OF MUSIC That  LP had the hit song Penny for your thoughts and their final RB hit Deeper in Love  What gave aided to Tavares&apos;s success throughout their musical career was their brotherly love they had amongst eachother the love they had for music and the love they had for their fans Today you can still see them perform mainly at Disco Revivals  Only three of the five brothers are perfoming today but if you get the opportunity to see them in concert it would be a life long cherished moment because Tavares is a band who always brought uniqueness to the music industry and for that they deserve to be tributed to and mentioned for time to come  If you have any comments requests or questions regarding this tribute feel free to send an Email and I&apos;ll be more than willing to send information Gracias MR OLDSKOOLALBUMSCHECK IT OUT 1974HARD CORE POETRY 1974IN THE CITY 1975SKY HIGH 1976LOVE STORM 1977FUTURE BOUND 1978MADDAM BUTTERFLY 1979SUPERCHARGED 1980LOVE UPRISING 1981NEW DIRECTIONS 1982WORLDS AND MUSIC 1983</media:description>
