The clich about David Bowie says he's a musical chameleon adapting himself according to fashion and trends While such a criticism is too glib there's no denying that Bowie demonstrated remarkable skill for perceiving musical trends at his peak in the '70s After spending several years in the late '60s as a mod and as an all-around music-hall entertainer Bowie reinvented himself as a hippie singersongwriter Prior to his breakthrough in 1972 he recorded a proto-metal record and a poprock album eventually redefining glam rock with his ambiguously sexy Ziggy Stardust persona Ziggy made Bowie an international star yet he wasn't content to continue to churn out glitter rock By the mid-'70s he developed an effete sophisticated version of Philly soul that he dubbed plastic soul which eventually morphed into the eerie avant-pop of 1976's Station to Station Shortly afterward he relocated to Berlin where he recorded three experimental electronic albums with Brian Eno At the dawn of the '80s Bowie was still at the height of his powers yet following his blockbuster dance-pop album Let's Dance in 1983 he slowly sank into mediocrity before salvaging his career in the early '90s Even when he was out of fashion in the '80s and '90s it was clear that Bowie was one of the most influential musicians in rock for better and for worse Each one of his phases in the '70s sparked a number of subgenres including punk new wave goth rock the new romantics and electronica Few rockers ever had such lasting impactnnDavid Jones began performing music when he was 13 years old learning the saxophone while he was at Bromley Technical High School another pivotal event happened at the school when his left pupil became permanently dilated in a schoolyard fight Following his graduation at 16 he worked as a commercial artist while playing saxophone in a number of mod bands including the King Bees the Manish Boys (which also featured Jimmy Page as a session man) and Davey Jones the Lower Third All three of those bands released singles which were generally ignored yet he continued performing changing his name to David Bowie in 1966 after the Monkees' Davy Jones became an international star Over the course of 1966 he released three mod singles on Pye Records which were all ignored The following year he signed with Deram releasing the music hall Anthony Newley-styled David Bowie that year Upon completing the record he spent several weeks in a Scottish Buddhist monastery Once he left the monastery he studied with Lindsay Kemp's mime troupe forming his own mime company the Feathers in 1969 The Feathers were short-lived and he formed the experimental art group Beckenham Arts Lab in 1969nnBowie needed to finance the Arts Lab so he signed with Mercury Records that year and released Man of Words Man of Music a trippy singersongwriter album featuring Space Oddity The song was released as a single and became a major hit in the UK convincing Bowie to concentrate on music Hooking up with his old friend Marc Bolan he began miming at some of Bolan's T Rex concerts eventually touring with Bolan bassistproducer Tony Visconti guitarist Mick Ronson and drummer Cambridge as Hype The band quickly fell apart yet Bowie and Ronson remained close working on the material that formed Bowie's next album The Man Who Sold the World as well as recruiting Michael Woody Woodmansey as their drummer Produced by Tony Visconti who also played bass The Man Who Sold the World was a heavy guitar rock album that failed to gain much attention Bowie followed the album in late 1971 with the poprock Hunky Dory an album that featured Ronson and keyboardist Rick WakemannnFollowing the release of Hunky Dory Bowie began to develop his most famous incarnation Ziggy Stardust: an androgynous bisexual rock star from another planet Before he unveiled Ziggy Bowie claimed in a January 1972 interview with the Melody Maker that he was gay helping to stir interest in his forthcoming album Taking cues from Bolan's stylish glam rock Bowie dyed his hair orange and began wearing women's clothing He began calling himself Ziggy Stardust and his backing band -- Ronson Woodmansey and bassist Trevor Bolder -- were the Spiders from Mars The Rise Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars was released with much fanfare in England in late 1972 The album and its lavish theatrical concerts became a sensation throughout England and it helped him become the only glam rocker to carve out a niche in America Ziggy Stardust became a word-of-mouth hit in the US and the re-released Space Oddity -- which was now also the title of the re-released Man of Words Man of Music -- reached the American Top 20 Bowie quickly followed Ziggy with Aladdin Sane later in 1973 Not only did he record a new album that year but he also produced Lou Reed's Transformer the Stooges' Raw Power and Mott the Hoople's comeback All the Young Dudes for which he also wrote the title tracknnGiven the amount of work Bowie packed into 1972 and 1973 it wasn't surprising that his relentless schedule began to catch up with him After recording the all-covers Pin-Ups with the Spiders from Mars he unexpectedly announced the band's breakup as well as his retirement from live performances during the group's final show that year He retreated from the spotlight to work on a musical adaptation of George Orwell's 1984 but once he was denied the rights to the novel he transformed the work into Diamond Dogs The album was released to generally poor reviews in 1974 yet it generated the hit single Rebel Rebel and he supported the album with an elaborate and expensive American tour As the tour progressed Bowie became fascinated with soul music eventually redesigning the entire show to reflect his new plastic soul Hiring guitarist Carlos Alomar as the band's leader Bowie refashioned his group into a Philly soul band and recostumed himself in sophisticated stylish fashions The change took fans by surprise as did the double-album David Live which featured material recorded on the 1974 tournnYoung Americans released in 1975 was the culmination of Bowie's soul obsession and it became his first major crossover hit peaking in the American Top Ten and generating his first US number one hit in Fame a song he co-wrote with John Lennon and Alomar Bowie relocated to Los Angeles where he earned his first movie role in Nicolas Roeg's The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) While in LA he recorded Station to Station which took the plastic soul of Young Americans into darker avant-garde-tinged directions yet was also a huge hit generating the Top Ten single Golden Years The album inaugurated Bowie's persona of the elegant Thin White Duke and it reflected Bowie's growing cocaine-fueled paranoia Soon he decided Los Angeles was too boring and returned to England shortly after arriving back in London he gave the awaiting crowd a Nazi salute a signal of his growing drug-addled detachment from reality The incident caused enormous controversy and Bowie left the country to settle in Berlin where he lived and worked with Brian EnonnOnce in Berlin Bowie sobered up and began painting as well as studying art He also developed a fascination with German electronic music which Eno helped him fulfill on their first album together Low Released early in 1977 Low was a startling mixture of electronics pop and avant-garde technique While it was greeted with mixed reviews at the time it proved to be one of the most influential albums of the late '70s as did its follow-up Heroes which followed that year Not only did Bowie record two solo albums in 1977 but he also helmed Iggy Pop's comeback records The Idiot and Lust for Life and toured anonymously as Pop's keyboardist He resumed his acting career in 1977 appearing in Just A Gigolo with Marlene Dietrich and Kim Novak as well as narrating Eugene Ormandy's version of Peter and the Wolf Bowie returned to the stage in 1978 launching an international tour that was captured on the double-album Stage During 1979 Bowie and Eno recorded Lodger in New York Switzerland and Berlin releasing the album at the end of the year Lodger was supported with several innovative videos as was 1980's Scary Monsters and these videos -- DJ Fashion Ashes to Ashes -- became staples on early MTVnnScary Monsters was Bowie's last album for RCA and it wrapped up his most innovative productive period Later in 1980 he performed the title role in stage production of The Elephant Man including several shows on Broadway Over the next two years he took an extended break from recording appearing in Christine F (1982) and the vampire movie The Hunger (1982) returning to the studio only for his 1981 collaboration with Queen Under Pressure and the theme for Paul Schrader's remake of Cat People In 1983 he signed an expensive contract with EMI Records and released Let's Dance Bowie had recruited Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers to produce the album giving the record a sleek funky foundation and hired the unknown Stevie Ray Vaughan as lead guitarist Let's Dance became his most successful record thanks to stylish innovative videos for Let's Dance and China Girl which turned both songs into Top Ten hits Bowie supported the record with the sold-out arena tour Serious MoonlightnnGreeted with massive success for the first time Bowie wasn't quite sure how to HELL HOUSE This tale of terror begins with three teenagers who love being scared They travel all over the country to find the ultimate fright challenge They come upon a huge warehouse made into a fun house of horrors They were told that some visitors that went in become victims or are scared to death The dare was those that completed the maze of terror would get their hefty admission fee plus double of that But no one ever has Stepping into the dark they are amerced into a satanic realm of ghosts ghouls and goblins A macabre wonderland populated by faces of death They are on the lookout for the chain saw maniac and the fatal woman on the stairs According to the house challenge if you survive these terrors you won the game While the horrors are impressive they don't stop one of the guys from moving ahead of the others Determined to be the first one to beat the challenge But just as the brave man shrugs off one of the animatronic attackers A little surprise sends him tearing out of the haunt in panic Now there were two Suddenly a bit less confident the others proceed They Marvel at how ambitious this interactive horror show is And can understand why the admission price is so high Still they know its all just make believe none of it was that terrifying or was it Suddenly one of the two on goers were overtaken by the darkness And now there is only one Now on his own the most hard core fright fan ventures alone His nerves on edge he tries to anticipate each gimmick As he wonders deeper into the depths of darkness and terror But his courage holds firm Eventually he gets a bit cocky Certain he's going to make it all the way through Then as he turns the last corner He's suddenly by the infamous fatal woman on the stairs For a second he's thrown off by the shock He recovers then realizes he only has one final terror to face But as the final door opens the house has the last word The horror junky races off in terror Weaving back through all the nightmares he's bravely endured Try as they might he and everybody else that has gone through has failed the hell house challenge It is said that the haunted house has a satanic curse put onto it Suddenly all the doors inside lock trapping its victims Some of the visitors that enter it and also some of the monster actors become possessed by demonic demons That take over the character's personality and using them to kill the trapped visitors Their mutilated bodies to be used for props and displays for the next year haunted house opening Hence the legend of the chain saw massacre where the legend was born And some other serial killers that have escaped the haunted house only to become the infamous human predators of today and tomorrow IF YOU LIKED THIS STORY THEN RENT OR WATCH THE HORROR MOVIE CALLED SLASHERS 2ND STORY THE FUNHOUSE Brian was crazy about the carnival It came to his town at the middle of every summer and he never missed a year he hadn't gone to it He knew every one of its rides and attractions by heart: the Ferris wheel the gypsy fortuneteller the shooting gallery throw a dart and get a poster game even the freak show But Brian's favorite attraction was the funhouse He could always spot it from the midway: a black building that looked like a clutter of giant shoe boxes of different sizes lying end to end The weather beaten black exterior was decorated with garish drawings of victims being cased by all shorts of creatures into the mouth of hell There was a drawing of a graveyard populated by rotting corpses and other demons of darkness feasting on the rotting remains of the freshly dead The monsters were painted in slashes of bright red green and black that seemed to glow brighter than any of the midway lights The people being chased away looked like they were screaming at the top of their lungs Brian liked nothing more than to be one of those people He knew the layout of the funhouse by heart and had for some time But this year something knew had been added The end of the funhouse walk was lit by a solitary overhead strobe light bulb Brian had spied a flutter of movement near the bulb He had nearly reached the hall's end when he heard a loud creak and something bulky dropped down from the ceiling The light flared bright with shocking intensity and Brian found himself standing face to face with a corpse dangling from the end of a noose Hands slack at the sides suddenly reached up to grab him AWESOME Brian thought that he might be able to convince some friends to come and see the thing before he remembered that tonight was the last night of the carnival Then he thought about how cool it would be to actually steal the corpse He could just imagine the looks on his friends faces when they walked into his bedroom and saw a corpse hanging from the inside of his door WICKED Brian was scheming so hard that he didn't look where he was going on his way out and nearly tumbled over the man who ran the funhouse The guy was a freak too With misshapen muscular limbs and had a hump in his back that threw his whole posture out of alignment The guy fixed him with an evil look He was gargoyle-faced But Brain never saw this man before He was as new as the corpse in the funhouse-and about as ugly From the look the guy gave him it seemed as though he knew that Brian was thinking he belonged inside with the rest of the horrors Brian felt a tingle of fear until the creep turned back to taking tickets from the next group of funhouse victims Brian walked the fairgrounds for a few hours killing time while he waited for the carnival to close All the while his thoughts were on the funhouse and how he might steal the dummy At midnight a voice came over the public speaker system telling the crowd that the carnival was closing down and to please start heading home Now was Brian's chance When he'd left the funhouse he'd seen the back door: just a loosely hanging piece of black canvas It would be a cinch to sneak inside during the confusion of everyone leaving the fairgrounds He could have the dummy in his hands in a few minutes and take it out through the front gates with him Lots of other people were carrying huge stuffed animals and no one would suspect that the dummy wasn't something he'd won at one of the games The freaky creep that ran the funhouse probably wouldn't know that his dummy was missing until the next town they set up in-and then it would be too late for them to come back looking for it By the time Brian reached the funhouse the lights shining on the painted front were all off and the gangplank leading up to it had chains across it Brian made sure no one was looking then ducked under the wires put up to keep people from straying off the path in front With the lights off it was darker in back than he had thought it would be The back door to the funhouse beckoned and Brian was surprised to discover that it was completely open All he had to do was slip behind the flap and he was in It was like they were begging someone to come in and rip them off It took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the dim light inside He felt his way through along the walls but the weird angles made him uncertain of where he was He was feeling his way along the wall when something smacked him across the face It was hairy and smelled disgusting as it pressed against his mouth He spluttered and gagged against it With a laugh he realized it was a fake arm that had shot out of the wall He remembered how he had dodged it during his earlier walk through Brian felt a floorboard wobble beneath his shoe and when he lifted his foot from it the arm pulled back It was on some kind of spring that the funhouse visitor activated by stepping on the floor That was probably the way all the funhouse frights worked The dim red light was shining down on the hung corpse as Brian groped his way to it They hadn't even bothered to hoist it back up after the last show Probably just left it there so that it would be easier for the freak to take apart when they packed up the carnival the next day He twisted the dummy around and saw it was locked into a harness with struts that extended into the arms So that was how they made the arms seem like they were clutching at you as it bounced at the end of the rope All Brain had to do was lift the dummy up to free the harness from the hook that attached it to the rope Creaaaaaaaakkkkk A floorboard sounded behind Brain He instantly turned to stone Creaaaaaaaakkkkk There it was again He thought about running back the way he had come But he'd already put so much effort into getting this far it would be a shame not to follow through Creaaaaaaaakkkkk It was only his nerves he thought He was only scaring himself There were probably lots of loose floorboards in the rickety building that were making the noise The funhouse had scary things in it-but nothing real Brian turned around and embraced the hanging corpse his hands clasping just behind the harness The thing's bobbing head nodded down and its face rested against his cheek He felt the icy coldness of a mask It was solid black plastic with a shiny surface that caught the light and reflected it's face in strange ways so that it would look like it was grinning or snarling back at you Up close he also realized the dummy had a rotting musty smell to it The hook didn't give easily and Brian lost patience He gave it a sharp tug The dummy slipped out of his clumsy hands and as he went to grab it he awkwardly pulled on one of the arms Then he heard a ripping sound and felt it wrench free of its socket He got upset after he found that he broke the dummy The detached arm slithered out of the sleeve the hand still snug in Brian's grasp It had a knob like bump protruding from its end and Brian held it up to the strobe light Then he dropped it as though it were red hot IT WAS A BONE A REAL HUMAN BONE The dummy spun around and Brian hesitantly reached up and flipped off the plastic mask The face behind it was mummified the skin gray with the texture of leather was stretched over its face in an expression of pure terror and agony A filthy gag was tied around its mouth Its skin was dried out and the eyes were sunken in Brian removed the corpse's gag and could make out its decayed but human skeletal teeth in the gaping mouth THIS WAS NO DUMMY Brian stepped back gagging Then a pair of hands reached out from the wall behind him and grabbed him He stepped off the board trying to make them retract and let go of him but no matter how his feet danced over the floorboards surface the arms held tight Then one of them grabbed him by the hair and roughly spun him around Staring back at Brian was the leering face of the freaky creep that ran the funhouse The man smiled at him wickedly and laughed Then he brought down something hard and painful on Brian's skull When Brain finally came to he found that he could not move his limbs They were bound to something hard and unyielding His chest felt constricted as though there were cords wrapped around it attaching to something behind him And a nasty tasting piece of cloth stretched around his mouth making it difficult for him to make any noise Brian felt himself twirled around and came face-to-face with the funhouse creep The man stared back at him and stroked his face with the dirty fingernails of his hand Such a good-looking boy much better looking then that overused bag of bones that you desecrated but too childish for your own good Said the freak Brian tried to scream but could muster no more than a gurgle against the wadded cloth in his mouth He flailed his legs only to find that he was no longer standing on the creaking floorboards of the funhouse He was several feet above them The freaky creep tugged Brian's head roughly forcing him to look down at the shriveled remains of the real funhouse corpse lying on the floor What a shame Brian was such a mischievous boy And how sad that he'd gone poking into things he shouldn't have just like the last mischievous boy that the freaky creep took care of Now Brian would have to replace what he had broken The freak snapped something over Brian's face Something dark and tight Something cold and plastic that would hide his tears When Brian awoke again to the sounds of creaking floorboards pure terror overtook him as he realized that the sounds came When Elvis Costello's first record was released in 1977 his bristling cynicism and anger linked him with the punk and new wave explosion A cursory listen to My Aim Is True proves that the main connection that Costello had with the punks was his unbridled passion He tore through rock's back pages taking whatever he wanted as well as borrowing from country Tin Pan Alley pop reggae and many other musical genres Over his career that musical eclecticism has distinguished Costello's records as much as his fiercely literate lyrics Because he supports his lyrics with his richly diverse music Costello is one of the most innovative influential and best songwriters since Bob DylannnThe son of British bandleader Ross McManus Costello (born Declan McManus) worked as a computer programmer during the early '70s performing under the name DP Costello in various folk clubs In 1976 he became the leader of country-rock group Flip City During this time he recorded several demo tapes of his original material with the intention of landing a record contract A copy of these tapes made its way to Jake Riviera one of the heads of the fledgling independent record label Stiff Riviera signed Costello to Stiff as a solo artist in 1977 the singersongwriter adopted the name Elvis Costello at this time taking his first name from Elvis Presley and his last name from his mother's maiden namennWith former Brinsley Schwarz bassist Nick Lowe producing Costello began recording his debut album with the American band Clover providing support Less Than Zero the first single released from these sessions appeared in April of 1977 The single failed to chart as did its follow-up Alison which was released the following month By the summer of 1977 Costello's permanent backing band had been assembled Featuring bassist Bruce Thomas keyboardist Steve Nieve and drummer Pete Thomas (no relation to Bruce) the group was named the Attractions they made their live debut in July of 1977nnMy Aim Is True his debut album was released in the summer of 1977 to positive reviews the album climbed to number 14 on the British charts but it wasn't released on his American label Columbia Records until later in the year Along with Nick Lowe Ian Dury and Wreckless Eric Costello participated in the Stiffs Live package tour in the fall At the end of the year Jake Riviera split from Stiff Records to form Radar Records taking Costello and Lowe with him Costello's last single for Stiff the reggae-inflected Watching the Detectives became his first hit climbing to number 15 at the end of the yearnnThis Year's Model Costello's first album recorded with the Attractions was released in the spring of 1978 A rawer harder-rocking record than My Aim Is True This Year's Model was also a bigger hit reaching number four in Britain and number 30 in America Released the following year Armed Forces was a more ambitious and musically diverse album than either of his previous records It was another hit reaching number two in the UK and cracking the Top Ten in the US Oliver's Army the first single from the album also peaked at number two in Britain none of the singles from Armed Forces charted in America In the summer of 1979 he produced the self-titled debut album by the Specials the leaders of the ska revival movementnnIn February of 1980 the soul-influenced Get Happy was released it was the first record on Riviera's new record label F-Beat Get Happy was another hit peaking at number two in Britain and number 11 in America Later that year two collections of B-sides singles and outtakes called Taking Liberties was released in America in Britain a similar album called Ten Bloody Marys Ten How's Your Fathers appeared as a cassette-only release complete with different tracks than the American versionnnCostello and the Attractions released Trust in early 1981 it was his fifth album in a row produced by Nick Lowe Trust debuted at number nine in the British charts and worked its way into the Top 30 in the US During the spring of 1981 Costello and the Attractions began recording an album of country covers with famed Nashville producer Billy Sherrill who recorded hit records for George Jones and Charlie Rich among others The resulting album Almost Blue was released at the end of the year to mixed reviews although the single A Good Year for the Roses was a British Top Ten hitnnCostello's next album Imperial Bedroom (1982) was an ambitious set of lushly arranged pop produced by Geoff Emerick who engineered several of the Beatles' most acclaimed albums Imperial Bedroom received some of his best reviews yet it failed to yield a Top 40 hit in either England or America the album did debut at number six in the UK For 1983's Punch the Clock Costello worked with Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley who were responsible for several of the biggest British hits in the early '80s The collaboration proved commercially successful as the album peaked at number three in the UK (number 24 in the US) and the single Everyday I Write the Book cracked the Top 40 in both Britain and America Costello tried to replicate the success of Punch the Clock with his next record 1984's Goodbye Cruel World but the album was a commercial and critical failurennAfter the release of Goodbye Cruel World Costello embarked on his first solo tour in the summer of 1984 Costello was relatively inactive during 1985 releasing only one new single (The People's Limousine a collaboration with singersongwriter T-Bone Burnett released under the name the Coward Brothers) and producing Rum Sodomy and the Lash the second album by the punk-folk band the Pogues Both projects were indications that he was moving toward a stripped-down folky approach and 1986's King of America confirmed that suspicion Recorded without the Attractions and released under the name the Costello Show King of America was essentially a country-folk album and it received the best reviews of any album he had recorded since Imperial Bedroom It was followed at the end of the year by the edgy Blood and Chocolate a reunion with the Attractions and producer Nick Lowe Costello would not record another album with the Attractions until 1994nnDuring 1987 Costello negotiated a new worldwide record contract with Warner Bros Records and began a songwriting collaboration with Paul McCartney Two years later he released Spike the most musically diverse collection he had ever recorded Spike featured the first appearance of songs written by Costello and McCartney including the single Veronica Veronica became his biggest American hit peaking at number 19 Two years later he released Mighty Like a Rose which echoed Spike in its diversity yet it was a darker more challenging record In 1993 Costello collaborated with the Brodsky Quartet on The Juliet Letters a song cycle that was the songwriter's first attempt at classical music he also wrote an entire album for former Transvision Vamp singer Wendy James called Now Ain't the Time for Your Tears That same year Costello licensed the rights to his pre-1987 catalog (My Aim Is True to Blood and Chocolate) to Rykodisc in AmericannCostello reunited with the Attractions to record the majority of 1994's Brutal Youth the most straightforward and pop-oriented album he had recorded since Goodbye Cruel World The Attractions backed Costello on a worldwide tour in 1994 and played concerts with him throughout 1995 In 1995 he released his long-shelved collection of covers Kojak Variety In the spring of 1996 Costello released All This Useless Beauty which featured a number of original songs he had given to other artists but never recorded himself Painted from Memory a collaboration with the legendary Burt Bacharach followed in 1998nnThe album was a success critically but it only succeeded in foreign markets outside of their home countries of the United States and Britain A jazz version of the record made with Bill Frisell was put on hold when Costello's label began to freeze up due to political maneuvering Undaunted Costello and Bacharach hit the road and performed in the States and Europe Then after Bacharach left Costello added Steve Nieve to the tour and traveled around the world on what they dubbed the Lonely World Tour This took them into 1999 where both Notting Hill and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me featured significant contributions from Costello In fact he appeared with Bacharach in the latter as a pair of Carnaby Street musicians albeit street musicians with a gorgeous grand piano at their disposalnnContinuing his tour with Nieve he began singing the last song with a microphone forcing the audience to sit in complete silence as he usually performed Couldn't Call It Unexpected No 4 with nothing but his dulcet baritone filling the auditorium After the record company's various mergers ended Costello found himself on Universal Records and he tested their promotional abilities with a second greatest-hits record (The Very Best of Elvis Costello) The label promoted the album strongly making it a hit in his native Britain Unfortunately they also made it clear that they had no intention of giving a new album the same promotional push leaving him to venture into other fields as he awaited the end of his record contract His first project was an album of pop standards performed with Anne Sofie Von Otter which included a few songs originally written by Costello The album came out in March of 2001 on the Deutsche Grammophon label and it neatly coincided with the extensive re-release of his entire catalog up to 1996 under Rhino Records Each disc included an extra CD of rare material and liner notes written by Costello making them incredible treats for fansnnIn 2001 he found himself with a residency at UCLA where he performed several concerts and was instrumental in teaching music during the year He also began work on a self-produced album that featured Pete Thomas and Nieve -- now billed as a band called the Imposters -- entitled When I Was Cruel and the album finally saw release on Island Records in the spring of 2002 at the end of the year he released a collection of B-sides and leftovers from the album's sessions entitled Cruel SmilennWhen I Was Cruel kicked off another productive era for the ever prolific Costello In 2003 he returned with North a collection of classically styled pop songs pitched halfway between Gershwin and Sondheim The next year he collaborated with his new wife Diana Krall on her first collection of original material The Girl in the Other Room That fall Costello released two albums of original material: a classical work entitled Il Sogno and the concept album The Delivery Man a rock roll record cut with the Imposters My Flame Burns Blue from 2006 was a live album with Costello fronting the 52-piece jazz orchestra the Metropole Orkest On the album classic Costello songs with new orchestral arrangements appeared alongside new compositions and a performance of the entire Il Sogno The River in Reverse a collaboration with RB legend Allen Toussaint arrived in 2006 followed by Momofuku credited to Elvis Costello the Imposters in 2008 from Lost Highway

Erza used to be a child slave where she was forced to help build a tower called the R-system Over time Erza made friends with other slaves among them was Grard When she and the other slaves tried to rebel the evil magicians overwhelmed the slaves but it was then when Erza's magic awakens and kills them all setting them free from slaveryA cult tried to build this tower to resurrect Zeref They had slaves to build it Erza being one of them Erza has another flashback In the flashback Gerard tells her they have to fight to survive now Caught by another guard Gerard get beat and she gets sent back to her prison No longer able to take the abuse she attacks guards starting the revolt At first prevailing mages start to show up and they begin to lose A magic blast comes towards Erza but Rob interferes saving Erza but killing him She gets very angry triggering her magic She controls all the swords around her and wins the battle for everyone When everyone is on the boat to go home Erza goes back in the dungeons to look for Gerard Already possessed by Zeref Gerard attacks Erza and tells her he is going to complete the R-System to resurrect Zeref's body He tells her not to tell anybody about the tower or he will kill everyone She then wakes up on an island crying about the events just witnessedAfter Erza escapes from the island of slaves she tries to find Fairy Tail She had heard about Fairy Tail from an old man named Rob another slave that was forced to work on the R-system he also cared for her like a grandpa Eight years prior to the beginning of the story she found Fairy Tail and taken in as a member Upon joining Erza immediately developed a habit to wear armour as it made her feel safe It was around that time when Makarov took her to Porlyusica to get a artificial eye to replace her right eye that had became blind because of an injury (myanimelistnet)
