In the early sixties Hilik a ten year old boy who lives in Tel Aviv knows him and his brothers goal in life to make his parents happy and compensate for the grief and loss they had to suffer in the holocaust Moishe Hiliks father chooses to believe that his lost son from his first marriage didnt die in Auschwitz as he thought and somehow escaped to America to become President Kennedys assistant As he has never really accepted the fact that he is the only survivor from his family Moishe is sinking back to his past Torn between his fear that his father would abandon him and the wish to make him happy Hilik chooses to test his fathers love to him while accepting the risk of losing him

A major influence in my life is my mom She was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the beginning of my adolescence She began drawing schematic diagrams of common objects and inventions in effort to get her family out of their lower income status As her schizophrenia progressed her need to create transformed into a method of keeping her mental chaos in control My childhood dream to become a great draftsman and be her assistant inventor revealed my love for drawing and painting Through drawing and painting I find relationships between her personal chaos and my own Theories of homosexuality as a form of mental illness its heredity and my mothers ability to raise three homosexual black men inspired my interest in genealogy My paintings examine African American male patriarchy sexuality and material culture Looking through my mothers drawing archives I noticed schematic diagrams of black male material culture and how they inform my paintings Through four decades of my fathers amateur photographs my mothers drawings musicsound pieces and my paintings I have a powerful vehicle for aesthetic genealogy While organizing my mothers prolific body of cassette tapes and twenty thousand drawings I became overwhelmed and made a decision to take this project beyond painting and into performance installation and new media My childhood dream to become a great draftsman and assist my mother has manifested itself into reality It is my mission to bring my mother and my vision to life

This is an illustrated Christmas song of hope I originally wrote this for wartorn Military families However the song also applies to fathers absent from their children due to other circumstancesIf you appreciate the song please forward a link to anyone you feel will be touched by its message I am hopeful there will be Military personnel and their families who will receive a link and be blessed by the reminder that Jesus Christ truly is the Prince of Peace My heart especially aches for their children who carry such a heavy burden at Christmastime Just knowing Daddy cannot be safe at home can turn this wonderful season into a time of fear and uncertainty I pray they find some comfort in hearing that Jesus holds them in His arms and in His careI am keenly aware that war is not the only force tearing fathers from children Our society at home has become a war zone in many respects Broken families and emotional rubble are all around us Every community is affected and as in war it is the children who endure the deepest suffering However though the circumstances may differ the source of hope remains the same My love can bring your daddy homeThank you for listening May God grant you a blessed Christmas as you accept the gift of His son JesusSincerelyJene Bonnett
